I strongly believe that a photographer should be able to mix personal work with their professional work.
Big bike race in a small town 19 June 2016, Nevada City California The Nevada City Classic bike race is a great little race in the old gold mining town, Nevada City. It’s a fun race to watch. The riders head up a steep hill with dramatic turns and loop back around a long smooth […]
Pinhole Photography is the simplest form of photography. It’s basically a camera with a pinhole for a lens. A pinhole camera is pretty easy and dates back to 1544 when an astronomer made a pinhole camera to make images of a solar eclipse. Modern photographers often make or buy a pinhole lens for their digital […]
Another day shooting with And And And, this time we’re at band practice. I’m not sure that the average show-goer realizes as how much hard work bands put in. A band practice can go on for several hours, even superheroes need a break. The only thing better than photographing musicians in a photo-studio, is photographing […]
Photographing people is great fun, trying to get the perfect portrait is the goal. So we photographers must carry on.
Instant photography is alive and well, thanks to the Impossible Project. I am absolutely in love with instant photography. I have a couple of cameras and they are tons of fun. The camera lenses are not sharp, the color is never accurate, and exposure is not even close. It’s perfect for me.
For many photographers, making images of the nature is the ultimate challenge. It takes patience, practice and a love of the outdoors. Photographing nature, no what what time of year will always be a great love of mine.
Thing is a music event in Alsea Oregon, bringing together a wonderful batch of musicians and friends to one place in a remote part of Oregon. One fine summer day Matthew was sitting around at home and looked upon the land and said to himself, “if you build it, they will come“. Ok, that’s pure […]
I got a call from Berg of And And And and he informed we were going to Treefort in Boise Idaho. I just said ok and I packed my camera bags. I’m so glad that I went. I tried to photograph every show that I could. This was a lot of photography to undertake. Treefort […]
Casey from the band Minden gave me a call when he realized he needed a photographer to shoot stills for the filming of the band’s next music video. The whole video was shot in one long day. In Portland the weather actually held up for most of the day. Benjamin Ross Lyerly was the director […]
Musicians in their natural environment.
Heather and Jon decided to run off and elope in New York City. Most of these images were shot on a film, 35mm and a Hasselblad.
Structures and buildings are an interesting subject for many photographers. My approach to architecture and street photography is not unlike my approach to nature and landscape photography. I tend to frame a structure with its surroundings. I follow the lines of building or bridge to help frame it within its environment. I think it’s interesting […]
Fear Nuttin’ Band I caught this raucously fun band at The Manifestivus this year. The Fear Nuttin’ Band hails from Springfield, MA. Half of the six member band is from Jamaica and I think that is how this reggae/rock band creates such a unique sound. These guys sure know how to make a crowd go […]
As I experiment with the talkies, I’m learning more and more each day. Video Stop-Motion I created some very crude stop motion video using GoPros and DSLR Cameras. They’re just a lot of fun to make. These types of videos of consist of a series of frames being stitched together in a video editor usually […]
The Kodak Duaflex series of cameras represents a very interesting era in consumer photography. Photography was still of a new thing when introduced. They are easy to use and they only have one shutter speed, one aperture. Some models have a do have a Kodar lens that has zone focusing and three apertures. They are […]
